From Cyrus Sutton (UNDER THE SUN and RIDING WAVES) comes a look into the creative world of Tom Wegener who changed the entire surfing culture by introducing the ancient alaia style surfboard into modern times. We live in a world where over 90% of surfers compete for waves on less than 1% of the world's coastlines. To escape overcrowding and localism most surfers travel to far off destinations in search of empty "perfect waves." But what is a perfect wave? Before the shortboard it was a soft point break, now its perfect tubes with air sections. The fact is, a perfect wave is relative to the surfcraft on which it is ridden. There are perfect waves all around us, it’s just a matter of opening our minds... Steeped in Hawaiian tradition, the Alia’a represents the pure essence of board surfing, allowing for faster gliding than modern equipment, and tons of fun. The film also provides an insight into the life of a craftsman Tom devotion to surfing and the art of making surfboards. With its innovative half surf film/ half shaping tutorial format, this film gives you the working knowledge and stoke to create your own ancient finless surfboard. Shot on location at Australia, California and Hawaii, and featuring Tom and Jon Wegener, Richard Kenvin, Ryan Burch, Cyrus Sutton, Jacob Stuth, Harrison Biden, and Zye Norris.

It features a dynamic cast of ladies, some of whom are bathed in the limelight while others have only existed in quiet pockets until now. Each of their stories is unique, but a spirit of adventure and love they have for the ocean connects them.

In the summer of 2008, iconic surfer and former Pipe Master Rob Machado flew to Indonesia to experience a different kind of surf trip. A journey that would take him way beyond his comfort zone, to the point where he could finally be alone with his thoughts, his desires and the empty perfection of an unnamed Indian Ocean reef. What did he discover? You never stop dreaming. Even when they come true.

Sprout is a film about surfing, created in the same vein as its predecessor. Its not a shortboarding film, its not a logging movie, its not even a flick about guys with boards under their feet. It's all of the above, and a whole, beautiful heap more.
The Modus Operandi of the Sprout is to show the surfing culture how truly lucky we are to live in the lush life of the ocean experience, and emphasize all the diverse possibilities we have to accessing this fountain of youth. Riding eggs, fishes, traditional style longboards and the modern shorty. Every wave is a new possibility.
Shot entirely on 16mm film. -

ANDREW KIDMAN is an artist, musician and filmmaker. He embodies a time when surfing was all about getting back to nature and enjoying the ocean in a more spiritual sense rather than the hi-octane, corporate-sponsored world surfing has become.
'Glass Love' is a beautiful surfing film, which shows all those who see it, why surfing is the greatest sport of them all. Featured in 'Glass Love' are some of the most important surfers of the last 30 years including TOM and PAT CURREN, WAYNE LYNCH, MP, RABBIT, SKIP FRYE, OSCAR WRIGHT and DEREK HYND. -

Andrew Kidman's Litmus opened a revelatory window on a parallel universe - a past that hasn't passed, an obscured but not suspended surfing reality involving core aesthetics conceived in the 60s, fused in the 70s, and still finding expression in the soul surfing of artistic surfers everywhere.
Now Litmus has been re-released with a magic spellbinder, The Ghosts are Calling, a film that co-creators Eduardo Madera and Kidman call a 'Collage'. The beautiful cinematic creation blends the classic retro vibe of Litmus with working and insightful interviews with Wayne Lynch, Dave Parmenter, Derek Hynd, Neal Purchase Jr, and Mark Sutherland. I say working because of the uncompromising lifestyle realities of each of these blokes.
The ghosts that are calling in this film seem to be the spirits of that first Australian renaissance of the mid 60s that ultimately yielded the shortboard and an alternative philosophy of sustainable surf culture which is still, apparently, alive and well on Australia's central coast. Ghosts features another classic animation by Sutherland, and a splendid soundtrack by the Brown Birds From Windy Hill (Kidman, Purchase, Sutherland, Paul Brewer, Jay Kruegner and Mick Wordley). It is so eminently listenable, you'll want to make this puppy a travelling companion on your next 101 surf trips. -
